About Us
Sheffield Unite Against Fascism was set up in 2003. We bring together all those who want to celebrate and defend our multicultural, multi-faith city. We are also committed to challenging the racism and Islamophobia that has fuelled the growth of the British National Party.
We are a single issue campaign dedicated to preventing the BNP breaking through into the mainstream like their counterparts across Europe. We are also determined to oppose any attempt by the Islamophobic English Defence League to provoke violence and division.
The BNP is attempting to hide cynically beneath a veneer of ‘respectability’. However, we must constantly remind people that the BNP lies firmly in the tradition of British fascism going back to the National Front and Oswald Mosley’s British Union of Fascists. Its goal of an ‘all white’ Britain can only be achieved through violence and the destruction of democracy.
The BNP has announced that it will be standing sixteen council and four parliamentary candidates in the 2010 elections. Sheffield Unite Against Fascism will be urging the overwhelming majority of voters, who reject the BNP’s fascism, racism and bigotry, to deliver it a crushing electoral defeat once again.
